Don JOSE JOAQUIN de ITURBIDE Y ARREGUI, bapt in the parish church in Juan Evangelista, Peralta 6 Feb 1739 (son of Don JOSE de ITURBIDE Y ALVAREZ de EULATE, by his wife Doña MARIA JOSEFA de ARREGUI Y GASTELU), emigrated to Mexico 1766 and settled at Valladolid (now Morelia), designated PRINCE OF THE UNION (PRINCIPE 61 UNION) with the qualification of Highness (Alteza) by Decree of the Constituent Sovereign Congress of Mexico 22 June 1822. He was Rector de la Archicofradia Noble de los Caballeros de la Santa Veracruz, Grand Cross of the Order of Guadalupe, and Oficial Mayor de la Negocios Eclesiasticos. He m at Santa Clara los Cobres, Michoacan, Mexico 21 Nov 1772, Doña MARIA JOSEFA de ARAMBURU Y CARRILLO de FIGUEROA (b in the Bishopric of Michoacan .... 17..; d at Mexico City 3 Dec 1820; bur in the Panteon de Pablo), dau of Don SEBASTIAN de ARAMBURU Y URDIZIBAR, by his wife Doña NICOLASA MICAELA CARRILLO de FIGUEROA Y VILLASENOR, and d at ............... 19 Nov 1825, having had issue,

Don AGUSTIN COSME DAMIAN de ITURBIDE Y ARAMBURU, commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the Infantry Regiment of Valladolid 16 Oct 1797, promoted Lieut 29 Oct 1806, Capt of Fusiliers 17 Nov 1810, Capt Regt of Tula, Brevet Lt-Col 6 June 1812, Supreme Commandant of the Army of the North in the Provinces of Guanaguato and Valladolid 1816, proclaimed the independence of Mexico from Spain Feb 1821, drew up a constitution known as the Plan of Iguala, entered Mexico City 27 Sept 1821, proclaimed "by Divine Providence and by the Congress of the Nation, the First Constitutional EMPEROR OF MEXICO" 19 May 1822 and assumed the style of AGUSTIN I, took the oath to observe the Constitution 21 May 1822, crowned with his wife at Mexico City Cathedral 21 July 1822, Sovereign Founder of the National Order of Our Lady of Guadalupe, abdicated as the result of disaffection 19 March 1823 and left the country, visited Italy and England, returned to Mexico in a vain attempt to regain the throne and was arrested and shot without trial; b at Valladolid 27 Sept 1783 (and baptised in the Cathedral there 1 Oct 1783), m there 27 Feb 1805, ANA MARIA JOSEFA RAMONA de HUARTE Y MUNIZ, crowned EMPRESS OF MEXICO 21 July 1822 (b at Valladolid 17 Jan 1786; d at Philadelphia, USA 21 March 1861; bur Roman Catholic Church of St John the Evangelist there), daughter of Don ISIDRO de HUARTE Y ARRIVILLAGA, Grand Cross of the Order of Guadalupe, by his 2nd wife Doña ANNA MANUELA MUNIZ Y SANCHEZ de TAGLE (of the family of the Marqueses de Altamira), and was shot at Padilla, Tamaulipas 19 July 1824 (bur first at Padilla, transferred to Mexico City Cathedral by order of the Mexican Congress 28 Oct 1838), having had issue,
